Breaking Away.
£29.99
When we examine the Platonic solids, we are looking at a fixed and ordered world. Platonic solids are solids whose faces are all identical regular polygons. There can only be 5 of them: we can only have a vertex where 3 triangles meet, 4 triangles meet, 5 triangles meet, 3 squares meet, or 3 pentagons meet, as any more and the angles at that point exceed 360 degrees and we have a moment where we are on a flat surface, not a solid. Travelling out from the centre of the solid, through the centre of each face a set distance, creates a set of new points in space, all fitting on the surface of a new larger sphere. Join each point to the vertices of the face it travelled through creates a new, ‘stellated’ (star shape).
Even though we may find ourselves in a set and ordered world, we can still break away, building on that, but forming our own new path and structures. Nothing is fixed.
