Lotfollah Dome.

£19.99

Lotfollah. The Lotfollah mosque is one of the masterpieces of Iranian architecture, built in the early 17th century, as a private and sacred space for the ladies of Shah Abbas’ harem. It is thought to be the first space dedicated to women. It is also where the early forms of the game of chess were refined into the form we know today, hence the checkerboard background.  This image is based on looking up into the dome and attempting to construct the three dimensional in two dimensions, from the ethereal to the earthbound.
